We're looking forward to Meeting You!
Everyone needs a supportive community that will be there to encourage you, pray for you, help you, and walk along with you in following Jesus. At Spokane Baptist we’re committed to following Jesus’ example of building a community around God’s love, truth, and kindness. Our goal is to make you feel welcome from the moment you enter our building... and then to provide opportunities for you to build lasting friendships, grow spiritually, and serve in meaningful ways. We really do strive to make this church a genuine family through our after-service lunches and many wonderful events and ministries. It's my prayer that you'll not only feel welcome, but quickly know that you belong here.

FAQs
What are your services like?
Visiting any church for the very first time can be intimidating, but your visit to Spokane Baptist will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family.
You'll experience uplifting hymns, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and "at home"!

Sunday Services
Our day starts with Bible Study at 9:30am. We have classes for adults and teens, and you don't need to register ahead of time. We'd love to have you join us for some practical Bible teaching! The Bible studies are over by 10:15am and then the main service begins at 10:30am, so you'll get a small break in between.
At our main service (10:30am) - we have about 30-40 minutes of what we call "Family time" where we sing some traditional hymns, have a few updates about what's going on around the church, and take time to pray for our missionaries or other outreach efforts. There's a 7 minute intermission, and then the focus of our service is on solid Bible preaching. We're usually all done with the service by 12:15 or 12:20. We love to give all our first time guests some small gifts (a book and a coffee mug) - but we promise not to embarrass you. We give our guests these gifts with as little fanfare as possible.

Wednesday Service
On Wednesday evenings, we focus on 'Growing Together'. We have a Bible study through a book of the Bible for Adults and one just for Teens. In the Spring and the Fall we also have a 'Marriage and Family' class and an awesome program for kids that we call 'The Den.'
This service begins at 7:00pm and we are done by 8:00pm. Coffee is available!

Note: The teens Bible Study on Wednesdays is called "Catalyst".
How should I dress?
There is not a dress code at Spokane Baptist Church for our members or guests. Our ministry leaders and some of our church family choose to dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Spokane Baptist!

Do you offer new visitor greeting?
Yes, we do! Please see the Plan Your Visit greeting form, to let us know you're coming. We will be glad to meet you at the entrance and show you around once you arrive. We look forward to meeting you!
Where do I take my children?
We absolutely love kids at Spokane Baptist and have programs for children of all ages at every service.

On Sundays, just stop by the Welcome Desk in the lobby on your way in, and we will be happy to assist you with determining where your children should go. We'll work with you to find the best fit for your kids - and of course they're always welcome to sit out in the main service with you!

For very young children, we have a special "Comfort Room" located right off the sanctuary where moms can take their little ones for some extra privacy and comfort if they'd like. The service is quietly streamed onto TVs in the Comfort Room, so you don't have to miss anything!
We also offer classes for ages 2-12 - each class has fun games and crafts and snacks - and a powerful Bible lesson.

For Teenagers, we have a Teen Bible study at 9:30am on Sundays - then at 10:30 we offer "Teen Church" where teenagers can have some snacks and social time during the "family time" of the main service - then they live-stream the main service... but with the option to "Pause the Pastor" and ask any questions they have right away during the service. Our Youth Pastor is right there in the room with them to help answer their questions and make sure they're getting the most out of church. On Friday nights at 6pm "The Gathering" is a highlight for all of our teens. This weekly event is filled with games - and then a prayer and Bible time at the end. Wednesday nights at 7pm are yet another Bible Study opportunity for our teens while the adults have their 'Connection Group' time.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?
You might be surprised to find that at Spokane Baptist, we don’t actually pass an offering plate around like most churches. We want our service to be a gift to you!

We do have a small offering box located by the entrance to our sanctuary, but please don't feel any obligation to give.
We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace… free of charge!

What do you believe?
In its shortest form, this church family seeks after the heart of God by growing individually to be more Christ-like on a day-to-day basis through the careful study of the Word of God (the Bible). To see a full description of our specific beliefs and doctrine that we keep, please see our Beliefs section.

What kind of music do you use?
At Spokane Baptist Church, we sing traditional hymns (usually with the piano or choir). This isn’t because we desire to be “old fashioned” or because we don’t enjoy other types of music. Rather, it is because we believe that the hymn style of music offers several unique and important benefits that add great value to our services and help us to closely follow the Bible’s instructions on using ‘spiritual songs.’ We believe the benefit of singing hymns is:
1) They complement the preaching of the Bible
2) They help to set the right tone for the service
3) They help us switch gears from the common to more sacred matters
4) They tie generations of Christians together

How do I get to know people?
Great question! We believe that you'll find one of the really wonderful things about Spokane Baptist Church is our naturally friendly church family! Spokane Baptist has many opportunities to gather and get to know one another between Sunday after-service lunches, Sunday Adult Bible Study, Wednesday Connection Groups, Men's Breakfasts, Ladies Lunches, and frequent all church events. See the Get Involved page for more information.

Will there be Communion?
We hold Communion twice a year in the main service. Rather than observe the Lord's table as an 'add on' to every services, we have decided to dedicate our entire service (twice a year) to the meaning and observation of Communion. We know this is less often than some Christians are accustomed to - but we believe you'll find this to be a deeply meaningful and special time in the life of the church family. You do not have to be a member to participate in Communion, however, you do have to be saved and a believer in Jesus Christ.

Are the buildings handicap accessible?
Yes! Our entire church is ground-level with wide doors, and we have handicap accessible restrooms, and seating areas.

Do you have any special needs accommodations?
Yes! Our church has a special place in our hearts for people with special needs:
-
Kids with Special Needs: Our first choice is to try to integrate your family member into whatever classroom or service is most appropriate for them. Just let us know what you need, and we'll be glad to work with you! We also have a Special Needs Room we call 'The Cocoon' that is designed with your children in mind. It's a great space for kids that need to take a break from their normal classroom - or who will want to spend the entire service in there. It's already got a lot of fun sensory toys - and we'll be glad to stock the room with any specific items that will help your child feel comfortable and at-home!
-
Hearing assist devices: For our hearing impaired church family members - they receive all the sound that is broadcast from the church service including singing, videos, and special event music
-
Comfort room: A quite room for nursing mothers, next to the Sanctuary where you can watch the service via Live Stream in a more private setting.
We are always happy to make to make accommodations for special needs, when and where ever possible, just please let us know what we can do to help you.
